4 cents Black on Magenta, position 1, with initials EDW of postal official Wight, fresh colour and large margins all around, cancelled by DEMERARA JY8 1856 circular datestamp on large part-cover addressed to the UK, same postmark repeated on reverse together with hexagonal GLASGOW AUG 9 1856 arrival pmk, cover taxed 6d for maritime mail as these stamps were not valid overseas, a superb item from a prestigious collection (SG £25’000)
