THE ALFRED CASPARY STRIP OF FOUR ON COVER

1c Dull red, second stone, type C, remarkable and very rare horizontal STRIP OF FOUR cancelled by four neat strikes of the thimble DEMERARA AP13 1860 cds on small cover (one backflap missing) addressed to Miss Margaret Alves, New Amsterdam, the strip has large margins except touched or just in at top, further strike of despatch cds on reverse together with BERBICE arrival cds (same day), one of the great covers of the early period, a similar cover but with SG14 addressed to the same Miss Margaret Alves is known to have been part of the famous Dale-Liechtenstein collection
