Note: The earliest reference to a Deputy Postmaster in Berbice is to a Mr. Scott in 1816. Townsend reports the earliest known usage as 1813, E.B. Proud indicates a period of 4.5.1811 to 5.10.1813. This cover bears one of the earliest known usages of the Berbice 2-line handstamp
